Insider Article Mark Manley

Manleys is a boutique litigation practice based in Chester which was founded by Mark Manley in 2012. Mark was formerly Head of Litigation at Brabners in Liverpool. Manleys represents clients in media, sports, entertainment and commercial disputes. Despite it being a small firm, its quality is perhaps reflected in a client base which would be the envy of any law firm.  It includes representing several members of the British Royal family (about which the firm is incredibly proud!).

Manleys website www.manleys.law boasts that the firm “is in the results business” and validation for that is the many successes it has had in court and in settlements for clients. The firm has been previously shortlisted in the Lawyer Boutique Law firm of the year awards.

Recent examples of successes include a high profile published apology in The Sun (and online) for Mike Tindall MBE which prompted an online testimonial:

In sport Manleys represents many Premier League footballers, clubs, agents, other sporting organisations including the British Taekwondo Association. It represents sportsmen and women involved in boxing (including a current World Champion) speedway, cycling, rowing and snooker.  It has recently enjoyed success in an FA Rule K arbitration case and is involved in a FIFA Arbitration on behalf of an agent against a European club.

In the entertainment world Manleys acts for magazine groups and publishers, TV companies, production companies, and radio groups, for whom it continues to provide training, including recently for the British Forces Broadcasting Services.

The firm proudly represents (and provides training) for several NHS Trusts in the North-West and beyond and diversely, for the World Humanitarian Organisation.

Increasingly Manleys undertakes a significant amount of work to remove online content/bad reviews of businesses, hotels, restaurants and many cosmetic surgeons and other professionals in London and elsewhere.

Manleys reputation management team assist many large corporates including ASOS, XPO and many others in brand and reputation protection. It greatly values testimonials from such organisations, an example being:

“Manleys are the pre-eminent firm of their kind. Immediate response 24/7, total fluency in the issues and excellent, senior advice at a most reasonable cost. Mark Manley, he knows his field probably better than any other practitioner.”

Alex Sandberg, General Legal Counsel, ASOS

The firm is currently running over 500 intellectual property (breach of copyright) claims for a substantial German/US client.

Again abroad, this time in the US, Manleys is heavily involved in the Epstein/Ghislaine Maxwell proceedings. The Manleys team are involved in libel claims against worldwide publishers, enforcing media restrictions against UK media and dealing with the FBI.

In the commercial litigation field Manleys represents large and small companies in disputes as well as individual directors, partners and shareholders in disputes over shareholdings, rights, duties and commercial break-ups. Additionally, the firm represents some of the top 20 in the Times Rich List/ business leaders in the UK in management of their commercial and reputational affairs.

It seems that a lot of work is directed to this specialist firm from other solicitors’ practices UK-wide

Manley says the success of the firm is very much due to the commitment and dedication of its team of experienced and skilled lawyers, Practice Manager and staff: “We are lucky to have some great legal minds, who are also “people people”.  It is hard work but also great fun.  We are immensely proud of our client base and results.  Long may both continue.”
